What material is the antimagnetic watch case?

Antimagnetic watch cases are typically made from materials that are not susceptible to magnetic fields, such as soft iron, mu-metal, or other alloys with high magnetic permeability.

Soft iron is a common material used for antimagnetic watch cases due to its high magnetic permeability, which allows it to redirect magnetic fields away from the movement. Mu-metal is another material that is commonly used for antimagnetic watch cases. It is a nickel-iron alloy that has a very high magnetic permeability and is able to redirect magnetic fields away from the watch movement. Mu-metal is more expensive than soft iron, but it is also more effective at blocking magnetic fields and is less likely to scratch or dent.

Some watch manufacturers also use other alloys with high magnetic permeability, such as Glucydur, which is a copper-nickel-beryllium alloy, or Nivarox, which is an alloy of nickel, chromium, and iron. These materials are often used in conjunction with other antimagnetic measures, such as a soft iron inner case or an anti-magnetic shield over the movement.
